You Can’t Buy Happiness But You Can Buy A Cake

Life is…good in a way. Tarou hampir mau ulang tahun yang pertama, oh dear…Yeah. Waktu terasa sangat cepat berjalan.

Dan saat ini keadaan gue alive and kicking but still, life can be better. Tapi ga usah manyun, soalnya gada guna nya. I just want to spread some positive vibrations.

Hope you all like these pictures below!

I like it a lot!

Facepaint

Gue iseng ikut workshop Facepainting.

Hahaha. Those precious times in life…harus diresapin lah šŸ™‚

Soalnya, KAPAN LAGI???? lol.

Cerita Mudik ke Indonesia 2013 (Jkt-Solo)

I am back!

Saya mengaminkan. Dan di Jakarta, saya dapet kado manis dari Noni šŸ˜€ Makasih ya noni maaf gak sempet nelepon kamu, suer saya sedih banget gak bisa telepon padat sekali acara nya….

Pesta resepsi nya lumayan besar, tempatnya di kebon rumah bapak sama ibu saya. Tamu nya banyak banget, saya hampir pingsan karena panas banget dan belum makan dari bangun tidur (jam 5 pagi) sampai jam 2 siang! Parah. Saya dan suami bahagia sekali karena selain mertua ikut bersama kami, 2 sahabat suami saya yang S & K yang orang belanda juga bisa ikut berlibur dan on top of that, sahabat kami di Belanda D dan H bisa datang ke resepsi kami di Jkt…Sesuatu banget! Suami saya joget joget sama mbak campur sari yang ganjen, saya kipas kipasan sambil ngegosip sama sahabat2 saya yang datang. Hehehe…pasangan apa iniii?! šŸ˜€ Biarin aja biar mbak campur sari nya seneng. Bapak saya orang Solo aseli dan ibu saya orang Jawa-Sumatra. Alhasil pesta bernuansa Solo. Ibu saya katanya masih kerabat keraton Jogja, saya mah gak percaya.

Saying Goodbye to A Fabulous Summer 2013

The ugliest part of summer finally comes upon us. We have to say goodbye to a fabulous summer! I mean it, this year we had such a blissful summer. Finally, after so many years we all have to put up with lousy summers. The temperatures were really warm with a lot of sun. We often went to the parks, lakes and to the woods, and also to the city “beaches” (ie: Blijburg, industrial areas like NDSM and Roest). I also went to the cinema A LOT this summer and saw summer blockbusters, jeeezz so many good movies. My faves were The Heat, Mud, Behind the Candelabra and The Conjuring (whooaa!!it scared the hell out of me).

In August we attended our friends’ beautiful wedding ceremony in Haarlem. The civil wedding ceremony was held at the beautiful Haarlem City Hall. And then the party continued to Bloemendaal beach not so far from the town Haarlem.  Wow, the bride looked like a fairy šŸ˜€ she was soooo pretty and flawless, and she had in total 3 wedding gowns for the day. WOW. We were so happy for them, and the day was a fantastic summer day, everything was so perfect!

On September 3, we celebrated our first marriage anniversary. It just keeps better and we cannot believe how fast time flies šŸ˜€ We had a date night, we did exactly the same things we did on our first date back then in 2006! First had drinks on one of cafes on Marie Heinekenplein in De Pijp (a district in Amsterdam) then we had a nice summer dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant nearby.

Humble dinner but the taste is amazing

This month my friend Diana and I threw a hen party for our dear friend, Lusi. She’ll get married next month and we wanted to give her a special night to remember. The wedding will be held in Jakarta, so a bunch of her church friends and me (not a gang of the church) went ballistic on a Sunday evening throwing her a hen party. We went for bowling sessions and set her up for some nasty challenges in the city. For instance; asked a man to give her a peck on the cheek wearing red lipstick/ asked her to sing national hymn in the Dam square/ Asked a man to sing for her and many of those crazy acts. Reminded me of my own hen party last year hahaha. After that we ended the evening by having dinner at Saigon, a nice Vietnamese restaurant near Leidseplein. We did not go for the tacky hen party like hiring a stripper, the idea itself grossed us out. We really had a ball! and it was really unforgettable. I was not allowed to put her pictures here, too bad hahaha!!

Last weekend I met up with mba Yoyen in the city, it was a perfect event to wrap up summer. This was our second meet up, we met for the first time a couple of months ago together with Teppy who was holidaying at that moment! Teppy we miss you too šŸ™‚ Mba Yoyen and I tried a newly opened Korean restaurant, Yokiyo in De Wallen (Red Light District). I have read good reviews about this restaurant so I thought we should try it out. Just look at our jumbo size lunch! It tasted really delicious too and the most important thing, it’s affordable (12  euros for this jumbo hot plate of Bibimbap Bulgogi). After that we went to De Drie Graefjes on Rokin to have some fancy desserts šŸ™‚ I chose a Red Velvet cupcake and mba Yoyen chose a carrot cake. I gotta say that the thing I loved the most from this place was the cake sizes. They were HUGE for the price. And the taste of all cakes here was just heaven! Oh did I say the kimchi from the Korean restaurant was excellent? hehehe.

The summer is definitely over. It is raining almost every day now, the temperatures get cooler and it gets windier than ever. And I start feeling bleh in the mornings because it gets darker outside, and raining šŸ˜¦  Buuuuttt, I am super happy to going back home to Indonesia ! We will be flying to Indonesia in like a couple of hours from now and will be staying there for about 3 weeks. Enjoying the food, sun and beaches. I will see my families, my dearest grandmother in Solo and my friends. It is just lovely, I need this badly!!! The most awesome part of this holiday is, my parents in-law are coming with us (this is their first visit to Asia) and our dear friends Stefan & Kim are also joining..HOW COOL IS THIS?!!!

So, goodbye for now Europe! I am not going to miss you šŸ™‚

PS: I am so going to miss my little children (kitties) though *cryyyy!*

xoxo

IJhallen Weekend

If you follow me on Twitter, you probably knew already what we did on the weekend. Yep, we sold some stuff on IJhallenĀ (read: Eye-hallen). Basically, it was our attempt to sell stuff from our grandma who passed away 2 months ago. She had many valuable (antique) furniture, and my in-laws sold them through an auction hall. Our “task” now is selling the clothes and jewelry. When I thought about IJhallen, my friends were very enthusiastic about it and I thought..well I should give it a shot.

IJhallenĀ is a huge area in Amsterdam Noord, and now is very known as the biggest flea market in Europe. In the winter the event is held indoor and in Spring/Summer it is held outdoor. But what was the IJhallenĀ before? This area once belonged to NSM, which in late thirties after the war merged to NDSM (NederlandscheĀ DokĀ en ScheepsbouwĀ Maatschappij). It was the biggest shipyard in the world. That is why there are still some remnants, and remains of ships and big and empty buildings in this area.

The Hangout: May

I am a bit late posting this due to the bad weather, laziness, other priorities when the sun finally came. So, last week I finally got the time to go to the “place” and took some snapshots.

This time I am going to write about a coffee bar in one of little cute streets in NegenĀ StraatjesĀ (Nine Alleys). The bar is situated on ReestraatĀ 21, Amsterdam. 9 StraatjesĀ is an up-scale neighborhood in one of the districts in Amsterdam, called De Jordaan. It is definitely a tourist magnet, populated with quirky expensive little shops and cozy and hip cafes, made this spot an interesting place to go to during your stay in Amsterdam. I “found” this coffee bar a couple of months ago when I came to a shoe store a block away to exchange boots I purchased.

The Hangout: April

I thought a few days ago that I’d like to add a new category in this blog, to make it more fun to read and also to give you more info about the Dam and what this city has to offer. I have been thinking of random ideas, and I eventually choose a topic which I will enjoy so much to share it with you. I am a coffee enthusiast and I’ve attempted in describing it in a blog post a while back. You can check the story behind why I love drinking coffee, here.

I share my coffee experience with people who share the same interest; friends, colleagues and acquaintances..and I feel that I should write this information in my blog, so I am able to share it to a bigger public, and why not starting it right here right now. Amsterdam…This little city is a melting pot, an oasis of entertainment and hotspots! There’s always new hotspots in town so I decided to write a modest review which I am going to publish once a month. I will write about coffee shops/bars I like, or a (not so) newly opened coffee shop in town (Be aware: a coffee shop in Dutch means a place where you can buy and smoke some pots :p so in Dutch, a place where you can hang out and sip coffee is a koffiehuis) Perhaps it will be discontinued after a couple of months because in the future, I want to change it with another more interesting topics. For now, I hope you like it.

Paris…Je t’aime!

Eiffel Tower..overcast..not the best picture I know..

Last weekend, me and my girls went on a road trip to Paris. We’d been planning the trip since aaaggeess! However we managed to escape from cruel and rainy Amsterdam for a couple of days. Since it was a budget trip, what we did were all budget-proof. We ate breakfast and lunch at cheap restaurants/cafe in Latin Quarter..(but really amazed with the taste..so good!), and walked around the city to all touristy spots by foot, like :
