Welcome to my personal blog, Bucket of Cherries. I was born in Jakarta and have lived there until I was 21 years old. I left my country in 2005 to follow my guts and flew to Europe.
After my stay in Germany and Holland I then decided to live permanently in beautiful Holland to pursue bigger opportunities. Before I knew, Amsterdam had captivated me here. I used to be a corporate slave for giant apparel brands. I called it quits after 6 years. That is the best decision EVER. I am enjoying my life as we speak, I work now as a part time staff at an NGO and as a freelance creative for a local theatre production.
I am happily married to J, the love of my life and we live in our gezellig nest in the suburb of Amsterdam with our baby boy T, and two disobedient (sometimes can be cute) cats.
Initially, Bucket of Cherries was my outlet for sharing my findings and
my struggle stories about living abroad (think: language barrier, finding a suitable job, finding friends, etc). Now it has evolved into a “bucket” for my interests. I am infatuated with things like; (cult) movies, city trips, coffee, daydreaming, biking in the city in the summertime, any kind of jewelry, I have a thing for vintage/retro stuff. I am also very inspired by holistic lifestyle and now pursuing my massage therapist certification.
Living abroad has opened my eyes that people are allowed to be different. I truly believe with my motto in life, ” Accept who you are and your life becomes much easier “ And I live by the same motto when I write things in this blog, I write what I honestly feel and, I don’t write topics just so people like me. Life is too short for that! Embrace yourself, with all your quirks and flaws 😀
I quit writing for this blog as of April 3, 2017. The reason why I leave the “nest” is because my struggles now (after 10 years living in NL) are waaay different than when I started this blog. It’s time to move on and grow up! you still can enjoy reading the old posts though!
Who knows maybe I will create a new platform in the future, most likely not a blog but definitely will be something cooler! 🙂 Thanks for reading.
