I have been cleaning up so much lately, which should have been done in Spring (hellooo that is why they call it spring cleaning, eh?) But, due to bad weather and lack of determination, hence the late
spring summer cleaning. Which resulted to why I am posting this blog post 😀 My only problem is cat hair. It’s everywhere! Aside from that, I love cleaning, so I did it happily over the weekend 🙂
We have been living here for nearly 2 years and we have done some major uplifts in the apartment. I said major because before we moved in the apartment looked totally different than what it is now. We’re still updating the rooms with little personal touches to make it feels more like our home. We are not rushing ourselves to complete the house in one go, instead we collect stuff we love and fits in our house.
And a home feels like a home when it is filled with personal things and love, not just stuff you can buy.
Our apartment is a 4 room apartment, which in Dutch means it’s an apartment with 3 bedrooms and 1 living room. We use the 3rd bedroom as our study room slash dressing room. This nest is what I call home..
This time I only show you our living room and our dining room adjacent to the living room.
The painting above TV is an artwork made by my father in law. He is an artist and he draws beautiful paintings with Karisma pencils.
above the couch is the center piece in this room, a sweet painting we bought from a local artist.
my cat lies where he is not supposed to lay down. i put his brown blanket but he chose not to lay on it. typical.
dining area, the chairs were once oma’s dining chairs. on the right is J’s music nook where he plays his electric piano. we haven’t done anything with the empty walls, but definitely plan to hang some pictures or some artworks.
Dining table. I like this area because it is very Indonesian. If we go home, I will buy more Indonesian stuff to mount on the empty wall on the left side. If you’re wondering what that thing is on the right side, that is sapu lidi, to brush the cat hair off the table…sigh.
white ladder cabinet filled with some personal things, ie: my wedding bouquet, vintage camera, parents’ pictures and Russian souvenirs we got from work
I am not sure what you call our home in terms of style, we do not put our style in one category. However, we love colors and things from different countries, and we do not follow trends. We choose wooden accessories, colorful cushions (fave: Nepalese cushion covers..ah so beautiful!), anything with colors, we keep souvenirs from families and friends and use hands-me-down furniture. We are not really into monochromatic style at all…it really does not suit our personalities :p . This is what it looks for now but it can change drastically over the times as we like to keep on editing our stuff.
So welcome to our cozy nest 🙂 🙂
